She stands there wrapped in the darkness
Waiting for her one true love
She waits for him to wake up and see
How she feels about him
He talks to her everyday
And destroys her each time
For how can she tell him, how she feels
When he’s seeing another
For years she waited for him
But he still doesn’t notice
That she’s in love with him
Now and forever
She’s always waiting
Trying to understand
Why it hurts so much
To watch him walk away
Every day
When all she wants
Is for him to stay.
Locked in a fantasy!
Who can she tell?
This private secret
The wind listens but gives no advice
How can she survive?
Without the love of her life
She whispers his name
For only the air to hear
No one is allowed to know why she hides
Her true feelings
The lies and deceit
Slowly killing her deep inside
She’s still waiting
Watching him from a distance
Never letting him know
Her deepest darkest secret
For it will only lead to more pain
And more heartache
In love with him forever
Always waiting, never showing
Her feelings for her secret lover
Who’s name still stays a secret...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Love your poem ! It is a situation we often face in the maelstrom of Love. Finding someone who loves us a much as we love them is a lottery ! I love the implication of the line that sums it all up "Locked in a Fantasy" Sometimes even when it's hopeless we remain locked (in a no-hope relationship) and unable to move on. Thanks for sharing - BRIAN
