the wondering

Lollipop23

I stand alone on an island.

watching the sharks fly by, and the birds fly through the water.

wathcing the spies watch me.

But you can't touch them.

they are the untouchables.

i am sitting ontop of a rock, high above the crashing waves below.

listening to the whale's mournful singing.

wondering.

Who am i?

I am a stranger.

  • Comment from author about the poem: When I listen to music, I see things. I hear things. When I listen to music, it makes me feel like I'm flying. This poem is about not knowing who you are, and seeing all the other people around me and wondering if they're feeling the same thing I am. I didn't know if this was okay for little kids, because I don't want them to feel the same stuff I'm feeling. But then again, I'm under 18, so that might be a little hypocritical.

And you are far from alone in that identity question, and yet I am not there, nor understand its basis really....
You painted the scene very nicely for it is even yet delightfully in my mind's eye.....with a small hunched figure on the edge of a cliff gazing with....as you well titled it "the wondering" far-away gaze.....
    I like it!
