Where's Your Smile?

Cheeky Missy

Brightening each new day,
An' making it worthwhile,
Chasing gloom away.....
The presence of a smile
Truly brings special cheer.

Although it's never broken
The face on which it rests,
Some won't wear this token
Of pure friendliness, lest
Anyone find them dear!

A smile can make the day
Of each that it touches;
For in a special way
It takes in its clutches
Each and ev'ry fear.

If ev'ryone could learn
To wear a pleasant smile,
New an' old tasks would turn
Into something worthwhile.
Then were cheery days here!

  • Comment from author about the poem: I dunno quite what provoked this piece, I think a discussion or poem from one of my fellows. This is rather philosophic so I edited it.....check out that version too, if you like and decide which is better, if either.
