Repenting Oneself

Cheeky Missy

What have I done?  What did I do?

When I gave reign to sin?!

Why did I not, when I was tempt,

Yield to Thy voice within?

What have I done?  What shall I do?

 For I've much grief within;

I thought to spare myself much pain,

When I gave leave to sin.

How foolish was I!  What made sense?

 For Wisdom's way is peace.

The way of sinners' only pain.....

Why did I not Thee heed???

I've sinned, O Lord,....what shall I say?

 Thou knowest all my sins---

I now confess what I have done:

Forgive me all my sins.

Forgive my sin and heal the pain,

Restore Thy peace within;

Cause me Thy Way to caref'lly keep,

And keep me back from sin!

    Very well constructed and clearly a very personal piece. As a poem I like it dearly.

      Thank you very much. Sadly, the conclusion testifies against me.

        Thank you. I like to think it is applicable to all of us, and yet, if the conclusion were true, why am I what I am?
