Hopes and Fears

dbremner

A setting sun

Melts to the sea

And with it is carried

All hopes and fears for that day

Did you have hope?

I know I did

I felt it when I woke

It seemed to suffocate me

Did you have fears?

Of those I'd none

What place have they with me

My heart refused their entry

As days are short

In winter time

My advice - is simple

Cling to hope, renounce your fears.

I like the picture you painted in the first stanza, leading into the rest of the poem.....it is a sweet thought indeed, yet, since I must face and taste my fears, I but try ignore them, or deny them in vain hopes, until they catch up again with me. I'll consider your advice, though.

Thank you very much, I wasn't going to post this one at first.

I liked the first part too where you described how the setting sun melts to the sea... paints a clear image... great poem.
