Your Valentine.....

Cheeky Missy

"A Fortnight of Valentines"---my latest (crazy)whimsy....a collection of sappy sonnet (attempts), fraught with redundancy, and so hastily executed and crafted by imaginative fancy as to hopefully not be too repulsive to the reader.  And yes, fairly UNedited, presently.

Day 2

(sonnet attempt # XVIII)

XVIII

I want to dance into your arms, sweetheart!
To twirl and spin about so fluidly,
And sweeping lightly so expressively,
To take your breath away and stop your heart...
As delicately, eyes sparkling, my part
I play,....the butterfly we love to see,
Not far away, but drawn yet closer gaily,
Abrupt, so suddenly up close from far.
And would you like or let me dance as such?
To play so flittingly and cheerfully
Just out of reach, then in your arms so nigh?
And could we dance so merrily with love
Drawn closer inexplicably so sweet?
If this entice dear Valentine....I'm thine.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I do love to dance and twirl to music or not, ....and I keep thinking it'd be jolly good fun to end up in my lover's (well imaginary for now) arms after it. Now, Petrarch's model requires it to be one thought, the sestet separate in thought from the octave, ...did I manage that or should it be edited?

Dance to the music of the mind, the closer you twirl towards him your Valentine will get closer to you. Keep dancing.
