Who is Responsible for Harambe's Death?

DubbleDhee

Three year old boy who fell into a gorilla area is said to be doing well

But social media zealots are giving his parents nothing but pure hell

The naysayers weren't there when the little boy fell into the gorilla pit

Somehow they know more than the experts on hand. They really don't know shit!

The boy expressed a desire to climb into the restricted area. His mom said nope!

Next thing she knew he found his way under the fence and fell into the moat

Witnesses watched in horror as the primate violently dragged and tossed the child

The ape was just being an ape. But to spectators, the monkey had just gone wild

Zoo officials said under the circumstances they had no choice but to shoot

Some said they could've tranquilized the beast, but the situation wasn't that cute

Harambe supporters want the parents charged  criminally without remorse

Others say zoo is at fault and the habitat barriers should be reinforced

There are other voices calling for the complete banishment of all zoos

Claiming wild beasts don't belong in cages for the entertainment of a few

Animal rights activists may be pleased to know they have a sample of Harambe's sperm

So the zoo's breeding program is still intact. The beast's bloodline has not been burned

The ape was killed, filling the community with all kinds of strife

Interesting how some poeple have now threatened the mother’s life

It appears this tragedy happened due to a number of things that failed

But if the PETA advocates have their way the parents will go to jail

Thanks DD - love topical ODES ! PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are a sincere but misguided group. In my book Human Life is sacred Animal Life is subordinate. The Parents have suffered enough and if the Zoo felt that demise of the Ape was the appropriate action and it should be left at that. Parents are warned to be extra dilligent in zoos. I am an Animal lover and Gorillas are wicked - BUT - the child's l;ife was being threatened so the Gorilla had to be sacrificed. Lesser of two evils. Nicely structured Poem love rhyming couplets. Thanks for sharing BRIAN

Thanks for responding Brian. This is crazy. The story has taken on racial and political tones. Animal rights people are demanding the parents be prosecuted and seem quite determined. Police have had to protect the parents as death threats have been issued against them (which I find ironic). Almost makes you rethink how humane zoos really are and why we have zoos in the first place.

      My new friend,Didi,

Should I tell you about all the fools of the world
Who the fate of the entire humanity hold?

Should I tell you about all scumbags, dead clowns,
Who pass into history in white crowns?

      But what for?
      There would be no revolution.
Democracy is just an optical illusion.

This case proves once more that the human jungle is more dangerous than the wild animal one...
Looking forward to more from you.

Wow lysistrata! Thanks for your response in prose. Yes, we may be better off leaving wild animals in the wild. Not sure we do them any favors caging them up in zoos. Anyhoo, can't wait to read more of your work. Thanks for sharing!
