Poor Child Dragged Into a Pond by an Alligator

DubbleDhee

Gator dragged boy into the water

Negligence turned him into fodder

A "No Swimming" sign

Is not just a line

Parents sent him to the slaughter

Parents didn't watch boy

Child's funeral is not a joy

Can't kill every gator

But makes us feel greater

So we're on a Search & Destroy

PETA will balk at the news

Disney is deep in the stew

It's the predator's nature

Parents know the danger

Four gators will now become shoes

In the case of Cincinnati monkey

They looked for a convenient flunky

If they can't find a minion

The public court of opinion

Will say the parent was a junkie

  • Comment from author about the poem: An alligator dragged a two year old boy into a lake at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. His parents tried in vain to wrestle him away. Authorities have been searching for any signs of the child, but have turned up nothing so far. This This comes on the heels of a boy that could've been killed when he slipped into the gorilla's area in a Cincinnati zoo. All this raises more questions about negligent parents and child endangerment.

POOR ORLANDO DD ! Our fave resort in the USA now we're scared to go ! I don't think Floridians take gators seriously enough. We were on a guided walk in the Everglades at 7am to see the birds. Therewas a 15 ft gator right across our path. The Guide said "He's OK he's had his breakfast - just don't touch his tail. I was the first to step over him ~ but it felt spooky ! He sue was alive because one person jumped over him and the vibes woke him and he whipped round and (fortunately) missed ! Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN

OMG Brian! That sounds awful. I may have ended the tour right there rather than jump over a gator. But you're right. Floridians are used to being around gators. Nearly common as dogs down there. But something spooky is going on in Orlando these days. Not sure if I want to go back there any time soon. And this is prime tourist season too! They may not make much money in Disney this summer. Prayers up for the families tho'. Thanks for sharing your story.
