A Mothers loss..

AlitaOpal

A Mother's Loss..

My waters had broken, but your heart was so very still..

Six months into pregnancy, your life ended against my will.

That night at the hospital, I had to push your lifeless body out..

I lost my voice when I lost you.. I couldn't scream or shout..

My soul had plunged into darkness, I was definitely living in hell..

Where was that baby cry coming from, I couldn't even tell..

Whether or not I was awake or asleep the nightmare would play again and again..

They placed your tiny body in a bucket, I had passed out cold by then..

When I awoke in the morning, I wondered where they brought you..

The doctor and nurses would not say a word but, obviously they all knew..

Your body was taken to the basement, with all other waste to incinerate..

I couldn't even collect your ashes, because by then it was too late..

Till this day remains an empty space, they say I need a fresh new start..

No matter where I am or where I go you'll always be in my heart..

  • BRIAN & ANGELA

Ohhhhhhhhh ALITA ~ Girls I know and Ladies in my extended Family who have suffered a late term (6 months or more) miscarriage are devastated and never really get over it. A lady I know called hr next baby (delivered fine at full-term) her SECOND BABY and she never forgot her "first born" who miscarried at 5 months. A six month fetus is a BABY and to dispose of the Baby as "garbage" is
unforgivable. You should have held it and had the opportunity for a burial and a grave and somewhere to grieve. The visual is very poignanat and accurate. The FATHER does grieve but (in my experience of talking to Man) his agony and sense of loss is much less. Thinking of you ~ Love BRIAN

Few are aware how important it is for a mom to see and hold her baby, even if the baby is not alive. You suffered a mishap, then had to suffer someone's negligence, then the flashbacks that continue to hurt. My heart goes out to you. Nice read.
