C HRISTMAS PAST ~ A joyous time ~ all
H appy singing round the Christmas Tree
R elatives and Neighbours bringing ~ An
I ce cream cake for you and me
S now was falling every Christmas
T o make the Town pristine and white
M ummy sang the Christmas carols
A ll was peaceful ~ cool and bright ~ Too
S oon the joy has passed away ~ now its HAPPY HOLIDAY
F AITH has been rplaced by sight ~ mo more
U nctious singing in in the Christmas night ~ Imagine
T here's no Heaven ~ JESUS just an ordinary MAN
U surped the mystery of Christmas out of sight
R evelry and excess replaces God's eternal plan
Every year X-MAS gets more secular I fear !

Even since I was born in the 1980's CHRISTMAS
has become more & more secular and less spiritual.
I do appreciate if you are not a CHRISTIAN this poem is less relevant.
For Christians CHRISTMAS is a HOLYDAY not just a HOLIDAY ~ AMEN

Thanks "A" ~ I hope I don't sound (at the early age of 33) that I yearning for the Good Old Days ! However even since 1883 Christmas has become much much more secular and greedy ! Last year in S EAST ENGLAND we got no SNOW due to Global Warning ! Next year I'm going to MICHIGAN for CHRISTMAS ~ Yours BRIAN

Ok, it's only fair, if I get Halloween, you get Christmas... lol I SO agree with what you have written and I love the acronym! I work at a college, and before that in a classroom setting in Early Childhood, it is very sad how we can't read the stories around the holidays that we used to because someone might get offended... You are so true, and even in cartoons we are seeing more X-mas than ever... Great work here!
Thanks VANABBA ~ Christmas is the FEAST OF JESUS CHRIST to celebrate the Incarnation ~ A great MYSTRY ~ God became Man and dwelt among us and died to redeem us ! A SECULAR CHRISTMAS is an oxymoron thats why the usee X~MAS because X is an unknown quantity. HAPPY HOLIDAY is even worse ~ Thank GOD it has not caught on in the UK and we still allow the GIDEONS to distribute the NT & Pslams in State Schools and we do still have Passion Plays (Easter) and Nativity Plays (Christmas). However only about 10% of our Christmas Cards are "RELIGIOUS" and we only have Spiritual Postage Stamps every other year so as not to offent Atheists and Non-Christians (Muslims etc). Children are "Fresh out form God" and love all the Bible Stories especially the Nativity ! Unfortunately it's not the kids who set the curriculum many of whom have forgotten their childhood or don't have kids themselves ! Thanks for your interest BRIAN
