Just Me.

ddraeg

Christmas is drawing near,

Celebration has already begun,

Presents are bought in abundance,

By those who can afford it again.

Never a thought for the poor,

No concern or care,

Is given for those who have nothing,

And no one seems to care.

The whole truth of Christmas has vanished,

Along with God’s only son,

Who was born long ago in a manger,

So God’s work on earth might be done.

Things that we must always posses,

Take our hearts and minds away,

From the godly thoughts of graciousness,

And the price that Jesus paid.

Remember the love that Jesus showed,

And don’t forget to see,

The poor, the needy, the lost, the lame,

And forget the words "Just Me".

WELCOME DD ~ Thanks you fror an elegant poem in structure and subject. It pulsates with rhyme & rhythm making it a delight to both read and recite. We live in a ME Society ! This is exemplified by US Politics ~ OBAMA has done his best to establish equality but TRUMP (in particular) seems to want to widen the poverty gap. JESUS came to bring PEACE and GOODWILL to ALL Men but we live in a very divided Society. The upper class (in the UK) spend millions on things they don't need ~ while GLOBALLY there are BILLIONS on the bread line. I have helped (in the past) on Christmas Day with the YMCA and the Salvation Army and it makes you realise just how far our Celebration of Christmas is removed from GOD's message in the gift of HIS SON who died for our Sins. You will find MPS an encouraging site and there are lot of people who appreciate the Spiritual Dimension. Yours BRIAN
