ZIP ~ ZIP ~ HURRAH

BRIAN & ANGELA

He should have been the President

An  Admiral ~ A king ~ He did his very best for us

Now hear the people sing

He made all our dresses fit snugly on our hips

Hats off to ELIAS HOWE

The Man who invented ZIPS

Zips on boots and zips on coats

Zips up to necks ~ zips up to throats

From the bedroom ~ Honey shout

Zip me up we're going out

All her flesh is packaged in

Well zipped up she sure looks slim

Be careful though ~ a zip's a nipper

Don't catch your willy in your zipper !

Poor old buttons ~ cant compete

Zips are cool and zips are neat

Zip me in and zip me out

Love's much quicker there's no doubt

When I'm going on a trip

My outdoor coat has a great big zip

Our forebears they had no such luck

It took them hours to button up

Our lives are fast and never slow

Grab your clothes ~ and ZIP & GO !

Thanks for visiting ~ Thank GOD for the ZIP ~ BRIAN

  • Comment from author about the poem: The first Man to patent the ZIP was ELIAS HOWE in 1851. It wasn't brought into production until the end of the 19th Century by Whitcomb Judson who called it a CLASP LOCKER ! Today nearly all Men's tousers have a zip (take care !) and most ladies skirts and casual jackets etc. It allows Ladies to wear figure hugging dresses and thigh boot etc ~ the zip is a boon to the Fashion Industry. It has been regarded as one of the greatest inventions of the 19th C. Are you wearing a zip today ? I have one on my trousers and another on my jumper ~ quick slick and convenient ! Please comment ~ Love BRIAN

It's nice to see some light hearted work 🙂 A vey good piece with an appropriate amount of humour and nice rhymes, I like the nod to Elias Howe as well, it brings realism into such a simple daily object that we take for granted. Well done, and thanks for the great read 😀 xx
