When I left home ~ to live in my own flat
MUM knitted me a lovely Rainbow Cat
She said I know you have your Ted
Who day and night ~ sits happy on your bed
But Teddy Bears ~ they always sleep at night
And only wake up when the Sun is high and bright !
BUT Cats the other way around
Asleep all day ~ but at night can be found
Prowling through the fields ~ in search of mouse
Or roaming through the streets from house to house
So while your Teddy guards your Flat by day
And watches over things while you're away ...
Your Rainbow Cat ~ He does the same by night
And guards your flat ~ and YOU ~ while YOU sleep tight !

this poem is so sweet, my view of the poem means a lot to me because when my granddad passed (I was a baby) my mother bought me a teddy to remember him by, my grandma has recently passed and my mother did the same again

It's embarrassing how many I even collect DRAGONS wow, I cant sleep without holding something so ah
No matter how old a person gets to be, it is said that in their Mum's eyes they will always be 12 years old. This may happens by Nature or by choice I do not know. So, when you leave it is quite appropriate to receive a "Rainbow Cat", besides that Ted needed a friend.

I'm new here and do not know if this the norm, but might I suggest a slight change to a portion of one line. In your second stanza, line three, why not say "searching for a mouse"?
