Come Out Of The Woodwork

WriteBeLight

Come out, come out,

Wherever you are!

I see you in there,

You can’t go far.

Hiding in the woodwork,

Trying to blend.

Listen to me,

The message I send.

We miss your talent,

Words on the page.

Sometimes funny,

Other advice, sage.

Someone hurt your feelings,

Or, maybe you theirs?

It’s something personal,

Of which we’re unaware?

I know that it’s tough,

Feeling sick and tired.

It’s not for us to know,

So, keep it inside.

But, if you’re ready,

To offer, to share.

Then bring it out,

Into the fresh air.

No bones to pick,

You’ll get none from me.

So, show yourself,

When you are ready.

For we miss your words,

No need for shame.

If you stay in hiding,

There's loss, no gain.

So, come out, come out,

Of the grainy woodwork.

Dust yourself off,

Let us have a good look.

Just a few words,

No reinvented wheel.

Express yourself again,

We’ve felt what you feel.

Here I will name,

Just a hint or two.

The lover of photography,

Shades of sadness, too.

He likes comments,

Good, bad, both.

The warrior cowboy,

All to return is my hope.

So you absent poets,

You know who you are.

Come back into the fold,

Twinkle with us, bright stars.

We missed you very, very much and were concerned that you had not been on site for a while. I wrote this thinking of you and others, but in particular you. You are very talented and I want you to know that I and others support you and all you have done. So, really look forward to that. Get some rest and thanks so very much for the reply and comment and the news of a great poetic work to look forward to!

Good morning WritebeLight, This was so wonderful to read. Being a newbie to MPS your warm words conveyed to me that this place isn't about, just going through the motions of sharing poems and comments. That it's about connecting through our expressions and using them to build friendships. I thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful and thoughtful poem! Thank you!

This is a great poem! I felt the same way but didn't know how to express myself. Theres another poet that I really miss. Hopefully they'll at least drop in and read this. Loved it!

Thanks Christina. It is funny how we get attached to reading each other's work. That is a good thing for us all. I hope so too. Thanks.

Yes its such a shame that there so few who actually interact - it would be nice to see other poets who post their work here taking just a few moments to join in the discussions.

          • WriteBeLight

Yes. Many, many talented individuals here, who stop by and then we do not hear from them again. I hope they are inspired to write something again. Just a poetic hello, maybe! Thanks Michael!
