Our First Kiss

Christina K

Today, I walked by the place

where we first kissed.

And I wasn't sad.

I was happy.

Happy to remember

we tried to look at the stars

but the clouds kept us from succeeding.

Happy to remember

when our noses touched

and elicited a spark that told us

we were in love.

Happy to remember

that my phone rang

and your lips lingered on mine a moment longer,

not wanting to let go.

That's why I thought you were happy.

Because you laughed at the chaos

that surrounded such a perfect moment,

and you told me that nothing would ever change.
