Johnson ~ Grant ~ Hayes and Garfield
Arthur ~ Cleveland ~ Harrison ~ what's more
Grover Cleveland once again.................
And that makes twenty four !
McKinley ~ Theo Roosevelt and Taft
Wilson ~ Harding ~ Coolidge ~ Hoover
Franklin Roosevelt ~ who served a twelve year draft !
Harry Truman ~ Eisenhower ~ ill fated JFK
Lyndon Johnson ~ Nixon ~ who found crime didn't pay !
Gerry Ford and Jimmy Carter ~ Ronald Regan and George Bush
The Charismatic Clinton and then The Son of Bush
Elected by the "hanging chads" which gave Al Gore the push !
We than got our first Black President
Barack Obama was his name
We ALMOST got a Female next
But TRUMP from nowhere came !
Hillary sadly from the spotlight went
Now DONALD TRUMP's the forty fifth President !
I hope my poem don't cause friction
Election FACT's are much stranger than FICTION !

- Comment from author about the poem: Every American President is a Character ~ several have been assassinated and several have died (of natural causes) in Office. The Good ~ the Not so Good ~ and the Ugly. Several were Vice-Presidents some of whom became "Accidental Presidents" following the death of the President ~ some where elected like George Bush Snr. Some lost (Al Gore ~ Hillary Clinton) the Crown even though they won the popular vote. My favorite will always be the Third President (1801 ~ 09) Thomas Jefferson who doubled the size of the USA ~ buying "Middle America" from the French ~ The Louisiana Purchase. A bit of potted history - some names long since forgotten. Well put together Brian
Thanks MICHAEL ~ Many are forgotten but history shows that every President has left his mark on the USA ~ especially as many of them were VP's and State Governors. What worries me most about TRUMP is his total lack of "Political" experience. He has already demonstrated this with his illegal and heavy handed approach to the entry of "innocent" Citizens from Muslim Countries into the USA. Thanks for your comments BRIAN

Thanks CHRIS ~ Washington was rather Imperial which was why Jefferson preferred The French Republican Model (Liberte ~ Egalite ~ Fraternite ou la Mort !) to the British Imperial Model which is still infused with the Aristocracy.
