Fits tune: Rock of Ages (Hymn of same name)
Based on part of Psalm 18
*********
When the LORD did David aid
End of his enemies made
He did pen a psalm of joy
And his tongue it did employ
To praise his strong Lord on high
Who he did for refuge fly
Sang, I you Lord will I love
Present comfort, holy dove
And He strong in might and deed
Seeing me came to my need
He my strength, my rock, fortress
Looked upon me and did bless
He too my deliver sure
My God, my strength, evermore
I will in Him always trust
I who am mere man and dust
But He my shield and my tower
He will [my] enemies devour
He my horn, that strength and power
That I do need every hour
I unto the Lord will call
Worthy to be praised by all
So from my enemies shall
Be saved, for He shall not fail
For who is God, He the Lord
None other, I am assured
Who except our God a rock
Though my enemies may mock
He will help, deliver me
Through Him victory I shall see

WELCOME ORCHIDEE ~ Thanks For a great first POEM ! Psalm 18 is a great Psalm and I can understand why you chose it out of the 150 ! There are many Spiritual People on MPS so you should get a good reception ! The rhyme & rhythm in your poem is excellent as is the subject ! GOD is my Rock and my Refuge ~ AMEN. I like the assurance in the last line "Through Him (GOD) victory I shall see" ~ AMEN ~Thanks for caring ~ Please check my Poems ~ BRIAN (UK)
Thanks Brian
I've done several hymn-poems, some on various other Psalms; and some 'written' poems, not to music. I read that the original 'Rock of Ages' hymn has 10 verses, in its longest version!
A great Faith filled write.
Thanks G/F.
A very inspiring verse of praise - I love that part of Psalm 18.
Hi Fay. Thanks. You here too!
Well written and expressed Great write
Thanks Tony.
Welcome
Very, very comforting and well written.
Thanks W.
just thought I would remind you that you are still stuck between a rock and a hard place..... Neville
Doh! I see this means ' to have to choose between two equally unpleasant courses of action'. That'll be right. My two actions (or one non-action) are 'To sing or not to sing'. It'll only be torture if I do sing. lol. Are you between the devil and the deep blue sea yourself?
Great write Orchi.. Must have wrote this recently. Lol.
Thanks M. Nope - I reckon it's my very first one on here!
