That Girl

WhereEvenAmITho

It would seem

I’m that girl

Looking like a fool

Wanting to believe the things you say

I know you don’t mean it

What you whisper in the heat of it
Those three little words
I hear on replay

You come to me

drunk in the night
You tell me I’m beautiful
You tell me I feel right

But the next day
You hurry away
You say you don’t remember
Those sweet things I heard you say

You pass me in the streets
But say you love me in the sheets
Treat me like nothing
Until you want something

I’m not your play thing

To fuck with as you please
Don’t say it if you don’t mean it

Don’t mess around with me

What you don’t understand

I’ve fought so hard

To put myself back together again

And I won’t let you break me apart

I’m strong enough to walk away
To not let you get under my skin
To leave you behind
And just begin again

And someday I’ll find someone

He’ll be unconditionally sweet
He’ll hold me when I’m undone

And he’ll sweep me off of my feet

He’ll be everything you aren’t
He’ll be what I need

He’ll love me deeply
And he’ll be there for me

And what you need to see

This man won’t be you

Because you lost your chance with me

I hate to say it but I cried. I really cried because It's so relateable and so raw and so true that it provokes feeling in anyone who reads. I really really love this poem, thank you for sharing it xx Just know that you're beautiful and talented, we all deserve to be loved and I'm sure someone is waiting for you.

oh and there is a certain strength in this poem that I love. You know you don't need him and I love that, you're not ending the poem with you crying in a corner, no, you're strong and you're moving forward because you know he messed up. XX Thanks again.
