Another door slammed in my face and like always your footsteps fade away. This time, though, I won't give chase to your hollow heart.
Your promises are always empty, your love is only conditional. You have taught me to take my lonely and turn it into angry.
Your stone cold words breathe into me and turn my heart to ice. No longer will I be naive and swallow all your lies.
And every time you neglect my love, you add more wood to my fire, and every glare you throw my way only stacks my fury higher.
So, when I look into your eyes all I see is red, and the hands you used to hold with care now shake at the thought of you instead.
Boiling blood fills my body with every mention of your name. When they say I am your daughter, I find it hard to stay sane.
Because you will never be the man that I will look up to. I cannot be your daughter if my father is not you.

- Comment from author about the poem: To my father, who wasnt there for me, didn\\\'t care enough to raise me the first half of my life, or to get to know me. To my father who puts others down to raise himself up. To my father who was never, nor ever will be, my dad.

Very emotive write.
Thanks
Sorry a dad is something a young girl can really use, its sad he wasn't man enough to see that?
He's too blind to see a lot of things unfortunately
well at least you know that and can compensate for it!
Powerfully written and so emotional. I am not usually a lover of emotional poems like this but this one is way up there with the best. my heart goes out to you. Will pop it in favourites.
Wow thank you!
Well written and expressed
