Norman Rockwell is the Man.
Paintings so easy to understand.
Captured all happening at the time.
Brought comfort and joy during War time.
His work, you should go see them.
Stockbridge, Mass., in his museum.

L S LOWRY ~ UK REAL LIFE ARTIST 1887 - 1976 - SONNET
*************************************************
He painted Salford's smokey tops
On cardboard boxes from the shops
They said ~ Lowry ~ just paints cats and dogs
And Matchstick Men all wearin' boots an' clogs !
Now he takes his brush an' he waits
Just outside the factory gates ~ to paint
Matchstick Men an' Matchstick cats an' dogs !
***************************************
Now Lowry's hang on walls ~ besides the greatest
Of them all ~ 'Cos he's a famous artist now !
And even Mona Lisa ~ smiles an' takes a bow
**************************************
He left us his Matchstick Men ~ an' his cats an' dogs
He left us Kids on the corner laffin' an' sparking clogs
Now he's taken his brush and waits just inside the Pearly Gates
To paint Matchstick Angels an' Heaven's cats an' dogs !

DALI
Figueres where on high
the turds look down on melting time
and spindled legs throw unseen shadows.
A place where breasts are touched
by sinewed hands
and tigers claws reach down on naked form.
The man himself hallucinating,
handle barred and Gala led
with showmanship his repertoire.
A master of the anvant garde
controlled delusion much derided;
for me the master of them all.

  • Comment from author about the poem: CHRIST OF ST JOHN OF THE CROSS is SALVADOR DALI'S most important religious painting. It was bought by the City of Glasgow for £8,200 ($13,000) in 1952. It is Scotlands most loved painting ! Such is the importance of the painting the Spanish Government have offered Glasgow £80 million ($125 million) to buy it ! LESLIE STANLEY LOWRY ~ Had a very distinctive style of painting the veryday scenes of life he saw around him i Industrial Northern England (Lancashire) in the early 20th Century. His paintings of people did resemble "Matchstick Men". I addition to Painting he worked all his life an left a modest sum of £300,000 ($400,000). His original paintings now sell for millions ! NORMAN ROCKWELL ~ FOR WHITE BE LIGHT ~ I have added a picture of Norman Rockwell ~ Self Image. ROCKWELL was a very famous illustrator and painter of American Everyday Life from the 1930's up to the 1970's. GEORGIA O'KEEFE was born in Wisconsin in 1887 and lived until 1986 ! By the age of 10 she knew she wanted to be an artist. She studied Art in Chicago & New York ~ her favorite them was "flowers" and she returned to them again and again. Some of her flower paintings resemble human female genitalia. Her paintings of New York buildings (using the style of PRECIONISM) are very famous She moved to New Mexico (a very exotic American State) in 1929 where she produced many of her famous paintings. In 2014 one of her paintings "Jimson Weed / White Flower No.1" (painted in 1932) sold for $44 million a record price for a Female Artist. Her original Paintings are large and take your breath away ! Please add your Favorite Artist and I will change the picture each time ! Love to All ~ BRIAN XOX
