Electromagnetic Static

WriteBeLight

It’s 29 degrees,

But, it feels like 15,

Winds 25 miles per hour,

Gusts sounding like screams.

The Sun is brightly shining,

Not a cloud in the sky.

Humidity at 30 percent,

Pressure says the air’s dry.

If you scuff on the rug,

You will produce static.

Snaps like a whip,

Field of electromagnetic.

Makes the hair on my head,

All itchy and light,

Tap a person’s shoulder,

See a blast of white light.

They’ll get mad at you, though,

Because it really smarts.

Like a finger in a socket,

An explosion of fireworks.

If you want to play a joke,

To get your cheap thrills,

The minute you tap their shoulder,

Turn and run for the hills.

What a shocking poem!. I remember as a young child running on a big nylon carpet in a store ,touching a filing cabinate and getting literally blown onto the floor. Good fun for a Friday. Phil.G

Good fun write. In one place that I work many years ago if I wore one particular pair of shoes I would get shocks all day!!

It is annoying to say the least, in particular, when you hair gets all static. Can't help it this time of year. Thanks for the comment Goldfinch!

Yes we all know the feeling although electricity doesn't bother me too much. To test if a cable is alive I simply pinch it quickly - a trick I learnt from my father - if you are expecting it there is no element of surprise although I wouldn't want to try on anything above 240volts. .

You are a brave one Michael. Thanks!
