Are things ever what they seem?
For I have had the strangest dream
I stood before a wishing well
Then down and down, and down I fell
I reflected in a mirror there
To see the truth, if I should dare
In covert shadows of this dream
A shy bird sang a song, unseen
Alone I stood, on naked knoll
And chanced to look, into my soul
All my hopes and dreams, were there
And all my sins, so much to bare
I wept, for I was so ashamed
I had only but myself to blame
For straying from the straight and narrow
I am being haunted by my sorrow
I thought if only I could awake
I wound not repeat the same mistakes
I would live in love and love to live
Myself to others I would give
With compassion and great care
My heart and soul I would gladly share
I soon awoke, and that was when….
I heard the shy bird, sing again!
