A Visit by my gran (grandmother)
I once met an old lady while on a surgeons table I lay,
During an operation, at a sunny part of the day.
I was supposed to be under, an anaesthetic sleep,
But think I was awake, looking around for a peek.
She stood there by my side, with a smile on her face,
This wonderful old lady, with an aura of grace.
She spoke in my ear, with a calming beautiful voice, Said Everything with be fine, and I should relax and rejoice.
When I woke it was night, and the operation was done,
But no sign of that old lady, as now she was gone.
I asked a passing nurse, was an old lady in there,
During my operation, with greying fair hair.
Her answer perplexed me,as she ran for the phone,
Apart from the surgeon and me,
you were there on your own.
When visiting my mother, a few days later, for a loan,
I noticed a photo, I'd not seen before in her home.
When I asked who It was,her answer hit me like a Bang,
Oh you haven't before seen this, it's a pic of your nan.
The pic was an exact copy, of the old lady I'd met.
Whilst laid on that surgeons table,
Some would say asleep,
I would bet....
