WHERE YOU THERE ............. ?

BRIAN & ANGELA

WHERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD ?

Where you when they condemned Him to death ?

Where you there when the scourged His bleeding back ?

Where you there when the led Him up the Hill ?

Where you there when they nailed Him to the CROSS ?

Where you there when He bowed His head and died ?

Where you there when thy laid Him in the TOMB ?

Where you there when He ROSE UP FROM THE DEAD ?

THAT'S WHY I'M SHOUTING ~ GLORY HALLELUJAH

  • Comment from author about the poem: HISTORIANS agree that there was an itinerant Preacher ~ JESUS OF NAZARETH ~ Who was born in Nazareth over 2000 years ago. They agree that he was crucified and buried. There is controversy about his life and the many miracles he performed as recorded in the four GOSPELS. Matthew presents him as the MESSIAH ~ Mark as the SERVANT ~ Luke as the SON of MAN ~ John as the SON of GOD. The Gospels of Matthew & John are eye witness accounts because they where two of His Disciples. There is also controversy about His Death & Ressurection. Because I am a Committed Christian I accept by Faith the Biblical Account and all the Prophesies concerning JESUS in the Old Testament. I have been BORN AGAIN through faith in the atoning Death of JESUS on the CROSS an brought into a new relationship with God and filled with God's Holy Spirit. HALLELUJAH ~ JESUS IS ALIVE ! Very nice poem. As we get closer to Easter it gives us something to think about. I have a keychain that says "thorns on his crowns, cross of wood on his back and YOU on his mind". Always reminds me that my Lord is with me and that he died for all of us, each and every one of us. Thanks for sharing. Wonderful sunday write!! Hugs in spirit--Christina

THANKS CHRIS ~ EASTER is low key (commercially etc) compared to CHRISTMAS but theologically they are both equally important. GOD introduced JESUS into Mary\'s womb where He developed as a fetus and was born as a Human baby boy but sinless. He lived a sinless life and could therefor die on the Cross as the Lamb of God ~ a supreme sacrifice ~ and bear in His own body the \"Sin of the whole Human Race\". Only JESUS could do this ! His Ressurection indicated GOD had accepted Christ\'s sacrifice ~ once and for all ! He ascended back to Heaven and sits at God\'s right hand as our Lord & Mediator. It\'s simple & logical but you can only accept (believe) it by FAITH. That is why CHRISTMAS & EASTER are equally important ! Thanks for caring ~ Hugs in the Spirit ~ BRIAN

                    Your poem is wonderful
Your poetry is very spiritual and questions the morality of humans sinful act when we 'condemned Him to death'. The repetition of 'Where you there when' directly asking the reader enforces a sense of responsibility of us to reflect on the depth of humans sins on son of god and in so doing questions our very nature of our morality how could we allow this to happen?

The red colour writing symbolises Jesus sacrificing his life for humanity as in depictions of Jesus at the last supper he is adorned in red and blue robes blue symbolising his spiritual transcendence to heaven red his sacrifice of his life on the cross l.

The repetition of hallelujah enforces rejoicing of Jesuss sacrifice to forgive all mans sins in the name of god. For through his sacrifice we may rejoice in the magnitude Of the power of love of Jesus for humanity.

Thanks IR for your excellent comment. My poem is based on an old Negro Spiritual and in hymns (which are all poems !) repetition is very important to reinforce the message ~ as you have pointed out. I used the colour red ~ because the Bible says \"Without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sins\" This was the reason for the \"blood sacrifices\" in Judaism in the Old Covenant. In the New Covenant it states \"Christ our Passover is slain for us ~ ONCE and for ALL ~ AMEN. Thanks for highlighting all the elements in my poem. Comments on poems are an important dialogue aspect of MPS and (as you can see !) I had quite a dialogue about EASTER with DS ! Welcome again and I look forward to more comments and reading (and commenting on) you poems ~ Yours ~ BRIAN.
