The Passage To My Soul

AshleyBerkelmans

My first and only sonnet
Will begin with this goodbye
As my soul is torn to pieces
I will become the night

You've broken every promise
That you tried so hard to keep
If you'd only know love was enough
Then maybe you'd find peace

The woman sat in tears
Will be the final heart you break
As her smile slips away
Your pain must replicate her ache

Now baby eyes stare at me
In a girl that's filled with hope
You'll grow up to see the sun
Of that your daddy could not touch

The world is painted beautifully
So why is my head black
Maybe an end to circumstance will show me what I've missed

I love you all
Your smiles make the world a better place
There's just no space for me here

As I drown in my mistakes
