Fits tune: Quem Pastores Laudavere
('Jesus good above all other')
Based on Psalm 112
********
Praise the Lord, blessed they that Him fear
They greatly delight to Him hear
And do His commandments, hearts set
Do them daily, ne'er forget
Their children upon the earth be
Mighty, generation upright, see
Wealth, riches, prosperity there
In His righteousness they share
Unto the upright there arises
Light in the darkness, no despises
Such are gracious, have compassion
Righteous they be, every one
Good people, they will show favour
Help each fellow-soul in labour
They will lend, assist, with grace fair
Show discretion, day's load bear
Surely they shall not be moved, for
Righteous be remembered e'ermore
They not fear of evil tidings
Their hearts fixed, to their Lord sings
They trust in the Lord for ever
Their hearts established, need fear never
Their desires on enemies shall
They see, hope their tongues shall tell
They disperse, unto the poor give
That with help the needy shall live
Their righteousness does endure e'er
They do good with godly care
Exalted their horn with honour*
Strengthened, they aid one another
Wicked see this, they anguish, grieve
Their desires melt, they go, leave
*horn = a symbol of strength or power

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.7. metre. I have tweaked it slightly in places - extra syllables, if you notice them. Erm, a Christmas Carol tune, if not words, for April! lol. You will need to click on 'Watch on You Tube' to start the clip.

Hi Orchidee - first thank you for all your kind comments you have posted for my poetry. Please forgive for not commenting on any of your postings so far. This is not out of disrespect but as I am not a Christian I find it difficult to make meaningful comment on religious based work. However I can assure you that I do fully recognise your expertise and skill when it comes to writing and long may it continue. Hope I'm forgiven.
Thanks M. I don't expect there's anything to forgive! You may wish to comment on the poem-style, form, etc. Whether Christian or not, we can't all read everything of everyone's poems. I know I can't!
