No Money In Good.

Goldfinch60

There is so much wrong with this world,

So many people suffering.

Suffering through lack of food,

Suffering through lack of water,

Suffering through abuse,

Suffering through war.

All these things can be stopped,

The world can be a good place for all,

The means and the money are out there,

Out the to protect our world.

But the bigger problem is the money,

As those who have the money

Want to keep it

Want to keep it and increase their wealth.

When faced with the ills in the world

All they look for is profit,

What is in it for them.

They realise that there is no money for them

If they do the right thing.

The right thing done in this world

Is just not profitable.

There is no money in good!

Good write and true. It's said that 'Money is THE root of ALL evil' could also mean 'Money is A root of ALL KINDS of evil'.

    • Goldfinch60

Sorry to be pedantic but the saying is "The LOVE of money is he root of all evil" and that is so very true.

You're right G/F. No use just saying 'Money itself is.......' as we all need money. Oops, add that bit in too, Porchi. Why you forgetting that bit about the love of money? Cos you wants to buy more sherry?! Porchi talking to himself there.

It's terrible really. It's not as though the resources are not available - they are, Some will answer for it in the end. The story of the rich man and the beggar at his gate? That's the controversial verse omitted from 'All things bright and beautiful' as it infers GOD allocated some rich and some poor, but it's MAN making some rich and some poor.

Sadly democracy as we know it doesn't recognise the needs of the world - only of certain sections of the individual community. A sad world as reflected in this fine write.

        • Goldfinch60

Thank you Michael, that 'certain section' is the one with the money and power to fix our world.

That's right - we are sadly run by those with the money and thus the power. Now I'm sounding like my father.

There is a good side to money Goldfinch. But, I agree. What I see going on in the U.S., and they way some people spend their money is disgusting. I can see why some think of us as the Ugly Americans. Very thought provoking poem!

Thanks WBL. There are some good people who use money to help others but they are an extremely small minority in our world.

              one man has a zillion
              another sleeps under the bridge
              more people worship money
              then they do God
corporate greed rules this world. good point GF

I like how the poem addresses the concept of a life without kindness as a word of desperation. You can clearly see that Mr. Finch compares it to being imprisoned humanity, when either of those can't be freed without humility. Very accurately penned, because a life without kindness would be aimless.
