LADIES DAY ~ AINTREE ! An Acrostic

BRIAN & ANGELA

LIVERPOOL AINTREE ~ GRAND NATIONAL ~ APRIL 2017

ALL  Liverpool Ladies are beautiful ~ Please

DON'T  miss them in all their glam and glitz

I am biased but they are all Truly Scrumptious !

Everyone has made a real Scouse effort ~ Hats

Shoes and everything & anything in between !

Don't mention ASCOT ~ a drab reflection

ALL Liverpool Ladies are beautiful ~ Please

You have to squeeze Them to believe Them !

AINTREE ~ Liverpool is the home of the greatest

INTERNATIONAL STEEPLECHASE in the World

NUMBER  of Runners (40) makes it a real spectacle ~ We

TOOK  our place by Becher's Brook amd watched them

RISE  six feet into the air ~ Up and Over to a big drop

EVERY ONE a thoroughbred ~ Each a potential Winner

EVERY HORSE much much braver than their Jockey !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love  BRIAN

Great write but not sure about the ladies in the photo - well the ladies are great but can't say I like their dress sense - or lack of it....! aw heck it's all in fun !!

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

COME ON MICHAEL ! Have you never been to LIVERPOOL ~ That is LIVERPOOL DRESS SENSE at its very very best ! They also taste as good as they look ~ YUMMY ! BRIAN

Actually I'm staying at The Dolby later this month for a few nights - I'll look out for them.

Clever again Brian. Well done. You are master of the form.

Thanks FRANK ~ I like ACROSTICS for several reasons 1. They challenge one's vocabulary 2. They set a finite line limit for the poem 3. Thy don't have to rhyme 4. It is a classic poetic form etc. Yours BRIAN

Thanks HONEY ~ as you know the British are very Fashion Conscious and also we are Horse Mad ~ so if we can combine the two we arein Heaven. I don't know how those five lovely Liverpool Judies would go down in New Hampshire ! ? Hugs BRIAN

HA HA. They would catch a very bad cold! 🙂

Doh! I'm much nearer Ascot than Liverpool though! heehee.

Thanks "O" ~ In my experience ASCOT is a bit stuffy and a very tight Dress Code for YIN (F) and YANG (M). Liverpool is the home of the BEATLES ~ CILLA BLACK ~ KEN DODD etc so it is much less stuffy and much more laid back. Also the GIRLS (in the picture) on "Ladies Day @ Aintree" are ordinary Liverpool Judies ~ done up in their finery ~ some are even on Benefits ~ but in Liverpool things always drop off the back of lorries including designer dresses ~ shoes and hats ! They prove every year that you don'y have to be a Millionaire or Famous or a WAG (Professional footballers Wife) to look a million dollars and very very special on the day ! Yours BRIAN

I mingled with the 'famous' a little - well, an antiques dealer off the telly. He was stuffy though. And some people are not worth talking too much, especially if they are rude - not outright rude, but shifty! Anyway, some say he bullies the contestants on the telly into buying what HE wants them to buy. That spoilt my day out a bit. doh!

Wow, didn't know about the ladies dressing up to go to a horse race like that. I am always informed by your poems. So did your horse win? Great acrostic, by the way. Hugs-Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ Well the second one of my SEVEN was ONE FOR ARTHUR who won at 14 to ONE so for a bet of $10 you would win $140 ! My Granddad is called Arthur and I have an Uncle Arthur and he is my favourite UK King so ~ if I was a Gambling Man that is the one I would have backed. I tipped it to one of my best mates and he backed it for £20 and won £280 so he gave me £50 for my local YMCA which my Charity ! They always have a LADIES DAY at the major UK Races ! Liverpool Ladies are called JUDIES and they always dress OTT ! Please you liked the Acrostic ~ my fave poetic style ! Stylish Hugs for you ~ BRIAN
