Fits tune: Divine Mysteries
('Sweet Sacrament Divine')
Based on part of Matthew 26 v.31 - 75
********
There in the garden dark
And with atmosphere stark
Jesus to Father prayed
To be strong, unafraid
For His soul in Him sorrowful
Unto His Father He did call
Father, if possible
Remove this cup, it all
Yet not what I do will
But what you do will still
And if it pass my not
I drink it, this my lot
This cup of suffering you ordain
Though bringing toil, grief and pain
For the spirit willing
Flesh weak here in this thing
Three times there Christ did pray
Did accept Father's way
To gain our salvation
Treasures for each nation
Though the disciples not one hour
Stood then with Christ, small was their power
But He did not condemn
As still He did love them
Judas, traitor appears
Jesus' passion it nears
Betrayed there with a kiss
A bittersweet fine bliss
Then Christ does go forth peacefully
Innocent one arrested, see
Then trial and mockery
For Son of God there be
There Peter did deny
Thrice, then cockerel's cry
Though said he would not bend
Defend Christ to the end
Yet he and all forsook, they fled
Now leaving him, their hearts in dread
But Scriptures all fulfilled
As the Lord God had willed

I like it better than anything I could compose =)
Thanks A. We're all unique. I can't write music though, or compose new tunes!
Very timely!
Thanks WBL.
A very expressive picture of the trials that our Christ had to face at that momentous time. A timely reminder dear friend.
Thanks Fay.
Thanks "O" for a great "hymn" based on the events in Holy Week You are a blessing to MPS. Interesting your comments on the 12 Disciples reactions to the Crucifixion. When JESUS eventually ascended back to Heaven (40 days after the Resurrection) His Father (GOD) congratulated Him on a job well done. However GOD said you chose an odd group of Followers ! Judas betrayed and Peter denied you all the rest except John ran off. John went to the cross and looked after your Mum the Virgin Mary ! GOD then asked JESUS ~ do you have a plan B ? No Jesus said but we have sent the HOLY SPIRIT to empower the 11 Disciples and they will no longer be afraid. The HOLY SPIRIT will also empower the countless millions who will follow me and the Christian Church will thrive and grow ~ for the next 2000 years and a third of the World's Population will follow the Christian Faith ~ so in a way ~ not just the 11 Disciples ~ but each individual Christian being filled with the Holy Spirit will be PLAN B ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN
Thanks Bri.
