As the sky above me and the earth below me, my fire will burn within me; my wanderlust will escape the ordinary. Like a ship, I will be safe ashore but surely that's what I'm not built for. My adventures may hurt me but the monotony of the world will kill me. I'll wander but I will never be lost; For I will die with memories, not dreams. I keep a sacred promise to myself that I will replace the fear of the unknown with curiosity.

THANKS PHOENIX ~ For a very positive and refreshing first poem ! FERNWEH as I understand it is WANDERLUST the desire to travel to far away exotic places ! I'm going to CUBA in June because I too have FERNWEH ! In my experience Money & Time invested in travel to anywhere and everywhere is always money well spent. I love the two non-contiguous States of the USA ~ ALASKA & HAWAII ~ they are both unique and as different as chalk and cheese ~ BUT ~ have to be seen and experienced to be believed. Travel is exciting ~ because it is unpredictable and I have visited Mexico several times and experienced Volcanic Fallout from POPO ~ awesome and Old Faithful (USA) and an Earthquake in Wellington New Zealand ! Better (as you say) to DIE with memories than toLIVE with only dreams ! Thanks for sharing ~ keep curious ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my poems ~ there is even one about KENTUCKY ! Thanks B.
