Fits tune: Salzburg

(One tune to 'At the Lamb's high feast we sing')

Based on part of Luke 24 v.13 - 35

**********

Travelling to Emmaus, two

Disciples, Jesus they knew

Not then there at the first sight

Of Him, later dawned their light

When He did bread with them brake

They then knew Him, did partake

In the joyous good news sure

Christ arisen evermore

They did say how hearts did burn

When they on the road did turn

To behold Christ, He drew near

Comforted them, removed fear

Explained how Scriptures fulfilled

How He did all that God willed

Be not slow of heart, believe

He the Lord, this truth receive

Said He that through suffering

He would go, ordained each thing

And so enter His glory

Exalted, each eye shall see

Him arisen from the dead

Met disciples, still broke bread

Refreshed souls, no more downcast

His eternal victories last

Disciples they then returned

For by faith they had discerned

That the risen Christ they saw

Shared among the others sure

Who were in Jerusalem

Of this news, this precious gem

That the Lord had risen indeed

Left them  not bereft, bereaved
