The Heart Song

Carol Coelho

Never heard your heart beating faster than now, but does this mean that I can be yours this time?

Though he never touched me like this, I'm afraid to say this is meaningful just for me.

Why are we coming back around history, if history seems to be hidden where no one can see?

Is this what love is supposed to be?

Hiding, lying, ignoring and pretending. I thought it was so irresistible that you could never control it.

But what can't you control?

A kiss, when all is said, can be controlled by you. What's hidden in there?

All that mask. I can see your disguise. Is it a secret that you keep

or a concealed feeling that you don't know how to set free?

He makes it so enigmatic when it should be simple.

Am I being that complicated as well? We walk in the light together while darkness surround our minds.

Our hearts once meet. They can't pretend it never occurred.
They still pulse for it.

Our eyes once meet. They can't fake they never sparkled.
They still miss it every time.

Standing here, looking at all the signs, going through all these pages,

I wonder if you have heard that love makes the world go round.

Although the course of true love never did run smooth,

is this love that we feel too or are you just lonely?

Are we?

WELCOME CAROL ~ OBRIGADO POR SEU PRIMIERA POEMA ! It is beautiful in structure and compelling in its content. It raises a number of questions about true love which we can also relate to ~ through our own experiences. Heartbeats and the sense of touch are always very important ~ love must arouse all our senses. Can kisses ever be controlled ? Is not love always enigmatic. The meeting of the eyes is always telling and (in my experience) loneliness is a poor excuse for sharing love. Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Pleas check my poems ~ Thanks B
