Fits tune: St Fulbert
('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')
Based on John 20 v.24 - 31
********
The disciples they witnessed bold
And unto Thomas told
That they the risen Lord had seen
He with them He had been
But then the doubt, for Thomas he
That time Christ did not see
And said, I must view hands and feet
And Christ myself must greet
For he desired to see Christ's hands
Scarred, to redeem all lands
And too His feet, the nails print
Then I be sure, no hint
No hint, but for self I shall see
That He risen Christ be
And put my hand too in His side
Pierced, then I shall confide
Shall confide in Him, not before
I see His presence sure
Then Jesus comes again, appears
peace, quietens their fears
And says to Thomas, see and touch
Me, for 'tis I, 'twas such
That Thomas then he did confess
My Lord, my God, you bless
Yet Jesus says to Thomas then
Have you believed me when
You saw me here in person sure?
But there are blessings more
For blessed are they who have mot seen
Him, yet in faith have been
Assured of Him, for they believe
And Christ arisen receive

Well written and expressed great write
Thanks T.
Welcome
Doubts are always there. Good write.
Thanks G. Yes, I thought - if one of the others had not been there, would it have been 'Doubting Peter' or 'Doubting John' etc? A pity Thomas is often labelled 'Doubting Thomas'.
