America

Gino

America, America
I hear your call
In every dream I place
In every sunset I search

My soul destines to reach for you
Across an ocean of fate
To see me through
And settle in your grace

Tears well in despair
With a broken promise to tend,
Nothing else suffices my emptiness
Only you remain in my heart to keep

Love will find me once again
For the space of time shall heal my pains
To find solace in your refuge
And bliss forever in your embrace

Oh, beautiful America,
Give me hope to know your glory,
For I want to make your shores my home
And share in the richness of your promises

I want to live beyond your mortal limits
To reach up and touch the sky
With your stars shining ever so brightly
So that my dreams may come true

Please, don't hasten my arrival
For I know my time will one day come
To claim what is mine
And fulfill a destiny
That's long overdue

Thanks GINO for a very nostalgic Poem about the US of A ! In my experience it is still God's Own Country (despite Trump !). Every State I visit ~ they are all different ~ I wnt to stay for ever. Every time I leave (I live and work in the UK) I want to return ASAP. I really did leave my Heart in San Francisco ~ but that's another story. Thanks for sharing ~ Meet me in Louisville Kentucky ~ BRIAN (UK) Please check my Poems and FUSION on Cities ~ Thanks B.

Thanks GINO ~ America America from Sea to Shining Sea ~ plus Alaska and Hawaii ! It is one Country but 50 very DISPARATE States but not one of them DESPERATE all of the beautiful ! E PLURIBUS UNUM ~ Out of many ONE ~ Lincoln fought to preserve the Union and it is still ONE ! Every State I have visited is so so different but all are uniquely beautiful ! I resonate with every word in your Poem ~ BRIAN (UK)
