Fits tune: Tyrol
('The wise may bring their learning')
Based on Psalm 62
********
Truly my soul upon God waits
He does see my estates
From Him comes my salvation
Open to each nation
He only is my rock, defence
My salvation from hence
I shall not so be greatly moved
He has of me approved
How long foes, you imagine
Mischief against each one?
You shall be slain, yes all of you
As wall, fence, that falls true
They plot and plan to good o'erthrow
Sincerity not know
Delighting in their lies, they proud
Bless, though inward curse loud
My soul, only upon God wait
he will aid, not be late
From Him my expectation is
My rock, salvation, this
My defence strong, moved not am I
To you I refuge fly
God of my salvation, my rock
My glory, though foes mock
Trust in Him at all times, trust sure
Pour out your heart before
Him, for God is our refuge strong
Hold to Him all life long
Surely men of low degree [are] vain
And so too it is plain
That men of high degree a lie
Are, we cannot deny
Trust not in oppression, now cease
'Tis not he way of peace
Become not vain in robbery
Set not on riches, see
That God has spoken, and I heard
Power is His, His word
He has declared, and too mercy
Just to each one He be

Thanks ANDY ~ Another lovely HYMN to an old tune ! Love your Victorian Language and sentence pattern to make it all rhyme ! EXCELLENT ~ You can't put 2ist C wording into i19th C tunes ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian I'm Steven. lol. Goldfinch is Andy. I mustn't knock 21st Century hymns / choruses though. Maybe I'm very old. Sometimes I say I'm millions of years old. It's so no-one guesses my age (oh vanity!) lol. One church I know ONLY has The Book of Common Prayer. We go back to ye olde 1662 language then! But I think we all need SOME variety at times!
Good write.
Thanks G/F. Do you have 1662 Book at all? Or just the C of E / Anglican has it?
I have some old prayer books but I would need to look for them, I will give is a go sometime today.
Have ye found those olde Prayer Books G/F. Wii ye now say 'thee' and 'thou'?! Not in everyday 21st Century chat though!
