My Favorite Color

Jane Frye

You asked, what is my favorite color:

In October, overlooking the pumpkin fields in the valley,

orange is my favorite color.

When the winter leaves of the eucalyptus trees are shimmering,

silver is my favorite color.

When I'm lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset,

red is my favorite color.

When I ride my bike on the back roads where the fields are filled with mustard plants in bloom,

yellow is my favorite color.

When I look into my children's eyes,

blue is my favorite color.

When I open my closet and see the shirt you wore on our first date,

green is my favorite color.

WELCOME JANE ~ Thanks you for a perfect first poem ! R O Y G B I V ~ As you say ~ each color of the Rainbow (and the millions of shades in between) is very precious to us at different times in the day ! When GOD designed the Human Eye he gave us not only 3D vision but the ability not only to distinguish between "40 Shades of Green" when we visit Ireland ~ but many many shades of every color ! This enables us to appreciate each other and the clothes we wear but also all the colors of the natural World ! Thanks for sharing & caring ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my poems ~ many are "color coded" ! Thanks B
