If you serenade your lover
With other people's voices
Then she's only staying with you
If she has no other choices

- Comment from author about the poem: I hope this is deeper than it seems. Or am I just deluding myself. I can see deepness in it anyway. The rest I leave to you.

Proverbial with deep dark overtones - yes I'm with you Garry
Thank you, but perhaps we're both deluded.
My family tell me I belong to another world. Mind you they do say it fondly - I think!
Yes perhaps I'm deluded !
And the lucky winner of todays "Spot the deliberate mistake" is Ephraim Crud.
Thank you for that. Mistake corrected, cheers
Hmm , I can't sing so what are her choices ?
Very good Garry. Does she know the serenade is coming from other people? If she does, then she is not very deep at all 🙂 Just lazy.
Who knows.
I guess i was thinking of the opening two lines as lying.
I see. So she does not know that he is? Or she is just settling. Very thought provoking.
Very good write.
WBL, possibly.
Or she could know he's lying and just be using him until something comes along.
Or perhaps the 2nd 2 lines are the cause and the first 2 the effect.
Ie, if someone is halfhearted in dealing with their lover it is because they know their loveris only waiting for something better. (this only just occurred to me.)
I took this to mean romancing her with other people's words. I got a vision of Cyrano de Bergerac. And that all her other choices are hidden because you're standing in their way. Seems pretty deep to me whichever way you meant it.
That was my first thought about it, though i imagined the recipient of the \"wooing \" to be using the \"wooer\" until something better came along or........... M Well i wasn\'t really sure what it meant.
