A RAINBOW OF ROSES ~ HERALD OF SUMMER ~ PERFECT

 

RED ~ Sensuous Love Perfect for Valentines Day 

ORANGE ~ Asks a question ~ I L Y  Do you love me ?

YELLOW ~ Happy Roses ~ You bring JOY into my Life !

GREEN ~ I am happy with Green Leaves to complement !

BLUE ~ I'm feelin' a little blue ~ please come and cuddle me 

INDIGO ~ Dark Blue ~ sensuous but also melancholy in my book

VIOLET ~ Mmmm ~ I only send Mauve Roses for a Funeral ~ sombre

  • Comment from author about the poem: In the South of England the Roses are now in bud and by JUNE they will be "Bursting out all over". Roses are a very Special Flower and speak of LOVE & LIFE for all occasions. For Wedding Anniversaries I buy my Married Friends a rose bush and warn them not to put Queen Elizabeth in the same bed as the Doctor ! We have a Remembrance Rose Garden at Church and the Roses are often chosen for their name: Peace ~ Ressurection ~ Hope ~ Joy ~ Everlasting Life etc rather than their colour. White Roses are of course very beautiful (and virginal !) and equally perfect for Weddings and Funerals. So can learn about the Language of Flowers from the internet ! Ladies know about these things ~ so be careful you don't give a bunch of the wrong colour and the wrong flowers to the Right Lady.     A fine write. The only 'rainbow' or ring-of-roses we don't want is the ones from the days of the plague! Children merrily go on singing it, then the ghastly background to the song is explained to them!

      THANKS ~ YES INDEED STEVEN ~ We have to be as careful with Nursery Rhymes as we do with flowers ~ there is always a hidden agenda ! Yours BRIAN What colour and type of wine do you prefer ?

      Thanks for the guide to the colors. I never knew about this until years into my life when buying flowers for Mother's Day. And, what a color can mean relative to a Mom who as passed on. I am sure that applies to other occasions. It is very interesting... a true Science. Thanks Brian for the info.

        Thanks HONEY ~ pleased you liked the poem and the roses. In the UK the Language of Flowers is very Victorian. Sending the right colour of Roses is the only remnant today ! I always send my current GF a dozed red roses on Valentines Day ! Expensive ~ but they are always worth it ! Rose scented Hugs ~ BRIAN

          Well CHRIS ~ when it comes to choosing flowers ~ the Heart is a much better selector than the Head ! I guess it's because I'm a Scientist I have to see a socio-psychological link to something as simple as choosing flowers ! Rose scented Hugs ~ BRIAN

              Sure brain girls mostly stick to flowers mostly roses...Only after reading it . I know the colors of roses have meanings..

                    Thanks MICHAEL ~ Early blooming Roses is a PLUS of \\Global Warming ~ but I don\'t like Florida\'s climate ! You are a Man of discernment ~ Pleased you appreciated the significance of colour ! I once bought a GF PEACH roses for Valentine\'s and she asked me if our relationship was proceeding with CAUTION! BRIAN

                    Our roses have been blooming since late March . We went through a four week drought and they showed it but the rains have returned and so has the color . . . Red ! It seems to be so hard growing roses of other colors other than red . But I like all the colors even the black rose which is actually a dark red rose . (Correct me if I am in error) But I plant them on top of dead fish I catch (they were alive when I caught them) and the results are staggering . I guess you can see I was enthused by your poem .

                      THANKS FRIEND ~ YES the roses in England are blooming early this year. To create a PURE BLACK Rose has eluded the growers and Rose Botanists ~ Those described as "BLACK" are indeed a very deep shade of RED. My Parents have always had a Rose Garden and there are hundreds of excellent Rose Gardens in the UK. Fish is an excellent fertiliser as you are discovering ~ Thanks BRIAN.
