As an explanation. the castle was
a steam ship that sailed across our river humber.
the last of its kind.....
The last castle.
On the muddy banks, of our famous river Humber,
sat a man by the pier, with a face like thunder.
Checking his watch, every five minutes or so,
where is this ship, it's so late don't you know.
I need to be across, and to New Holland side,
before the change, of this bloody high tide.
His wife sat aside him, with patience and grace,
Are you sure it's still sailing, from here in this place.
It's been a few years, since I last boarded her,
He said in a voice, with a crackle of despair.
A stranger walked up and then spoke in his ear,
Sir, the castle's not sailed here, for many a long year.

- Comment from author about the poem: i live near the river Humber in my Town of Hull. The lincon castle Was a steam ship that sailed Across the river almost as a River taxi service to new Holland On the other side. As a young lad We use to go on day trips across And back... I have sea blood in my Veins... It was a sorry day on its Last journey.... Hope my American friends understand ..
