Trust Through Trials

Fits tune: Thornbury

('Thy hand, O God, has guided')

Psalm 56

********

To me, God, be merciful

To you I on you call

For man would seek to swallow

Me up, and bring me low

He fights against me daily

Look on me, and me see

My oppressors, my many foes

All of them the Lord knows

What time I am here afraid

I will trust in you, staid

In God I will His word praise

He will help me, me raise

I will not fear what man can do

To me, for I trust you

Though each day my words they wrest

Yet I in you am blest

Their thoughts to me are evil

They wish me wrong, ill-will

Gather themselves together

I at end of tether

Be so, humanly speaking

But you my needs I bring

They shall not escape by their sin

For they shall fall therein

You know my wanderings here

You see my every tear

When I unto you do call

My enemies, they all

Shall turn back, for this I know

God is for me, will show

His help, His power, meet my needs

I His sheep, He me feeds

For my soul you have tended

Your mercies did you send

To deliver me from death

You renewed me, gave breath

That I not fall, be overcome

For you victory have won

Have saved me, I again walk

In your light, of you talk
