Awayness.

Fay Slimm.

Awayness.

Time-racked hope sickens yet clings to torn veils.
Train whistles awayness by distancing rails.
Faith blurs in acceptance of tear-stung eyes.
Will instinct wing free from hurtful goodbyes ?

Seared straws of comfort clutch loves sinking pyre.
Heart wavers as pain engulfs memory's fire.
Come autumn I question why, fences now down,
Romance's spent echo still bounces around.

Well I certainly understood it and also marvel at your superb use of the language - you have a great gift Fay.

Grateful thanks Michael - so glad you liked the read.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks Fay for another lovely symbiotic picture & poem. Nostalgic poetry always makes me sad ~and each year sees the passing of aged loved ones and my Granny used to show me faded wedding photos and explain that I would only meet them in Heaven for they had long departed this scene. But to each of us the past is just a important as the present because it is our memories. And more important than the future because that is yet to be ! E-mails are much less personal than LETTERS and when an elderly person on my e-mailing list passes over I always delete Just in case I may send them a copy of a group missive and embarrass the remaining partner. The moral of this is one would never write a letter to someone who was deceased. But of course their memory and influence remains. The Bible says "We are compassed about with a great cloud of witnesses". The greatest tragedy of "Manchester" was that one little GIRL was only EIGHT ~ how prematurely tragic for her dear parents ~ nothing can ever compensate for the death of a child. Sorry to be so melancholy but your poem was so so nostalgic ~ Thanks for caring ~ YOUR BRIAN

Many thanks Brian for your welcome and extensive reply to the read based on nostalgia - your thoughts on moral issues are close to my own and I appreciate too the future depends on our learning that past happenings are really important learning curves.

If I am away from my lover I am sad. You make awayness into something beautiful. At least this is what your poem says to me.
