LOST IN THE NIGHT

Michael Edwards

LOST IN THE NIGHT

By gabled window in abstraction

‘neath clouds less large than sky observed

her gentle breasts in folds of silk

at rest upon the ivied ledge.

The wistful dreams of men that haunt

his words had left their trace

as she recalled into the night

received in silence by the wind.

From vantage of the darkened shadows

by decrees encouraged there

he gazed up at her lissom figure

cowled against the flickering light.

His aspirations once prevailed

now lost in time and seen no more

without a key to fit the lock

he journeyed back in morning light.

The heart of a female has no comfort from broken promises - though sad you verse it well here Michael. I love the clear calm of the watercolour.

Elegant work that left me heavy hearted, in part because of the subject and partly because it feels so unresolved. Well done.

Oh sorry Heather - to bring a smile I'll post one of my more whimsical ones tomorrow.
