Monotony

AuburnScribbler

Oliver asked “I want some more”,

From Bumble serving gruel,

A brew so tasteless and a bore,

Creating something cruel,

Denied some people are today,

Curbing their enthusiasms,

Socially told they have to stay,

To develop painful spasms,

There needs to be variety,

In this short, fast-paced life,

So, play is just as vital as piety,

To dilute continuous strife,

No more should Oliver sigh,

As he’ll get a better bounty,

He has the right to set standards high,

To rid this horrid monotony.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This short poem is about breaking free from something continuously bland, and not having to shackle yourself to your duties. Life is short so enjoyment is an absolute must, and everyone has the right to be happy, so have fun in the embrace of variety and do not become bogged down in monotony. Hope you enjoy.

Everyone has the right to happiness but it seems that some people get a lot more than others ! I sometimes think it’s a little unbalanced .

Nobody should have to struggle and feel unhappy in life

Thanks for the read yellowrose, and I wholeheartedly agree with you, everyone should have the right; to the same opportunities, in order; for the whole of humanity to actually; become more unified, and hopefully happier .

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!
