boxing

EMcGee

once and awhile, she would test herself. how much she has improved or worsened. today is the day. she is prepared but at the same time, not at all. she asks to enter the ring and her opponent is big, much larger than herself, but still the same. one punch and she’s out. couldn’t eat for days afterwards, she was devastated. she can’t handle the defeat. she boycotts her enemy by not eating. she faces the opponent again and it’s a little smaller, more manageable. people wonder why she is standing in her bathroom scale, checking her weight all of the time. it worries them when she collapses to the floor in a fit of disappointment and cries.

WELCOME AVERY ~ Thanks for your first "poem" ~ a well expressed piece on a very important topic in both the UK and the USA. I love the title BOXING because (in my experience) many Young Ladies are driven by the media and fashion to question their size & shape which (to my mind ~ as a MAN !) are both perfectly adequate ! I teach Applied Science to 16 ~ 30's in an Adult College. Many of our students study Beauty & Fashion but also Health & Nutrition. We encourage all our students to have "self~worth" and "self~awareness" (MALE & FEMALE) and to attain an optimum weight ~ shape and level of fitness. As a Young Adult I try to teach by example. ! Thanks for CARING & SHARING ~ BRIAN (UK) ~ Please check my poems ~ thanks B.
