Grandmother White......
(apologies for the upside down pic)
Above my house, so high and light.
You hover slow, an amazing sight.
In every country, I see you there.
As I look up, and cannot help but stare.
You are many shapes, that I recognise.
From a smiling face, to a ships sinking demise.
An alien vessel, or a mountain side,
A barking dog or fun carousel ride.
I saw you swallow, a passenger plane.
But release it with, nothing more to gain.
To me you are, a most beautiful sight.
That I miss so much, during the fall of light.
We see you when, your not best pleased.
From white to black, you turn with anger seized.
You wrap our world, with a white soft glove.
And keep us safe, from nothing good above.....
Swimming around our globe so high,
You are to me, the whales of my sky.
As I leave this world, and begin my climb.
I hope you join me grandmother, with your hand in mine.

Very good write, looking up into the sky brings so many wonderful sights and memories.
Totally agree GF60
The sky it very beautiful
I have a picture of when
Me and my good lady
Visited Bolton castle
In the dales it looks like
A massive alien falling
To earth.. I'll post it on
One of my future poems.
Thank you for that lovely
Comment.. I am very happy
Today...
We too have been to Bolton Abbey, we spent many years going to the Dales in holiday, we very nearly moved there!
Just an absolute joy
Walking around there
My wife made me laugh
She kept saying we where
Trespassing on people\'s
Land, I told he that the
Dales are one big walk
We stayed at a place just
Opposite Asgarth falls
Where they filmed the
Robin Hood river scene
With Kevin Costner....
Honestly GF I could of
Sat there for the rest of
My life... the sound of the
Water is amazing, I am an
Ex seaman so have an
Affinity with water...
Spent many an hour at Aysgarth we used to stay in a cottage in a small village called Thoralby about three quarters of a mile from Aysgarth.
I know it, we use to visit
Leyburn nearly every day
We went in the antique
Shop and charity shops
In the square, bought
A beautiful chair from
there, and ripon, even
Went to the pub on the
Hill, tan hill inn... that
Was after we visited
Richmond... another
Lovely town, though
Very hilly, car wasn't
Best pleased...
Yep, we too were forced to go the the Tan Hill Inn. We went on a walk once, I cannot remember which Dale it was but we were walking for four hours and never saw another person - bliss!
Been to Richmond a couple of times as well.
Looking up - one of our greatest joys - and never ever the same. Super words PH
Thank you Michael
Trees and clouds
Two of my favourite
Things...
I, too, share your fascination with clouds ... beautiful creations, aren't they! And so many things can be seen in them, as your fine poem conveys. Well done, P.H.!
Thank you Louis
For that great comment
This is an amazing write! Well done
Thank you Shannon
If you look with eyes
Wide open there so
Many things to write
About....
This must be the most beautiful description of clouds I have ever read.
Thank you so much Fred
That comment made my day
This was a bit of a follow on
From my poem
Grandfather Green.. about a
Huge oak tree near my house
If you have time I would love
You to read it and let me know
What you think... thank you.
