Carrying On.
Sea covers curved globe,
knowing power of water
unleashes ruin, controls
with ebb and fall tides all
fearful disruption by force
of earth's bolstered sides
so fisher-folk life carries on
against each crash and cry
of high breaker destruction
and fights with bold fervour
to keep tied boats on shore
when waves become mighty.

Many lost in storms. Nice tribute. Metaphor for tough times as well, batten down the hatches.
Yes the metaphor was intended dear friend - - we all need to fight against stormy times with as much boldness. Thank you so much for the perceptive comment.
this brings back my memories of when I left school and started working for my father on his 2 fishing trawlers. I was 16 then and am 47 now but the storms we rode sometimes were very scary, fascinating and to watch the sea rise as the weather toughens up is a fear from God. we had many a lucky escape but am here to tell the tale of the deep @crash and cry' as you put it. thank you for this lovely poem and the dangerous sea all around us. I love it.
So good that this little verse brought back your memories of seas and their power Kevin - - living in Cornwall U.K. with its sudden ocean changes I know how fear can affect the strongest of fishermen when out there in a gale. Thank you for sharing your own experience of the danger in facing storms at sea.
I worked out of both Weymouth and the busy little port of Brixham. the sea is a wonderful place as long as you know when not to be there. I now live near the City of Bath in Somerset with my feet firmly on the ground,
Very good meaningful write Fay.
Another fine write F.
a way of life lovely illustrations
Yes a way of life I agree - good to see you here again my friend and look forward to reading your poetic thoughts.
Being surrounded by ocean, your beautiful poem speaks to me, in both the actual words as well as the metaphorical meaning. Thank you!
THANKS FOR CARING FAY ! "Oh hear us when we cry to Thee ~ for those in peril on the Sea" Our local rep ANDY of "The Mission to Deep Sea Fisherman" gives a talk to local WI's etc entitled "The real price of Fish & Chips" some thing we take for granted and we always grumble about the escalating price of FISH ! A perfect poem ~ I could smell the OZONE and taste the SALT ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks for your write. It came to me that soon we will be on hurricane season in Florida. The storm inside us roars many more times then the weather storms.
