Progressing In Promises

Fits tune: Dove of Peace

('I come with joy to meet my Lord')

Philippians Chapter 4 part

********

1. Be anxious for nothing, but call

On the Lord in them all

Always to pray, give thanks and find

God's peace for heart and mind

2. His peace beyond understanding

He will it to you bring

To keep your hearts and minds, nights, days

Through Christ Jesus always

3. Think on such things as that will life bring

Meditate on them, sing

Of them, their beauties, wholesome, sure

Abiding evermore

4. Think not on things disturbing, harm

They shall bring, hinder calm

Disrupt, annoy, unsettle, pains

Shall bring, ill-gotten gains

5. Think on things true, honest, and just

Not false, dishonest, lust

And too think on the pure, lowly

No un-attractions see

6. Think too on things of good report

And virtuous things, those sort

Of matters, and praiseworthy here

Living in godly fear

7. Finding with grace, contentment true

If having much or few

Whate'er each situation be

Grow in grace, you and me

8. That grace of Christ to do all things

With the help that he brigns

His strength for all we face each day

May we each watch and pray

9. And God shall all our needs supply

His resources ne'er die

Riches in glory He has true

Through Christ He comes to you
