N OBODY wanted TEA to be TAXED
D ARE I SAY ? Most Presidents are MAD !
E ACH chest of tea ~ poured in Boston Bay
N OBODY expected that and all Tea .......
C OMPANIES and the KING went wild ~ The
E NGLISH defeated ~ INDEPENDENCE !

Because I was in America on 911 (2001) with my parents ~ we were made
Honorary Americans ~ because we shared your ANGST and AGONY. I was
disappointed that there were no INDEPENDENCE DAY Poems yesterday ~ so
I thought I had better post one today ~ comments welcome ! Because we
are a "Nation of Tea Drinkers" we always see the "Boston Tea Party" as a
factor in the American Revolution ! Nobody BRITISH throws TEA in the SEA !

- Comment from author about the poem: I love spending Independence Day in a one Horse Middle American Town (Like Independence Iowa) you get a glimpse of Bill Bryson's America that is fast passing. Just think if you had stuck with us Brits ~ You would have had Queen Elizabeth II as head of State for 65 years instead of TRUMP the TWEETER and all the others since HARRY TRUMAN ~ where do you get these GUYS ? Also (like us) you could have had an unbroken succession (no elections required) for the next 100 years ! King Charles III ~ King William V and of course King George VII ~ AMEN ~ Thank God for the Monarchy. No wonder the UK is the most stable and the most stubborn Nation in the WORLD ~ Happy Independence Day ~ to one & all ~ Great British Love BRIAN XOX

We Brits only throw tea in the sea AFTER we've drunk it. Good write to celebrate the event.
Thanks MICHAEL ~ I thought all the YANKS would have had a poem for the FOURTH of JULY and their deliverance from the BRITISH YOLK ! However a lot tell me they feel they have been well and truly TRUMPED and would prefer Queen Elizabeth II to be head of the US State ! BRIAN !
A fine write B. We had an American boss, and 4th July was an 'event' at work with tea and cakes, etc. Even if some staff groaned and put up with it, smiling like Cheshire cats throughout the day!
WELL i'm reminding them that Queen Elizabeth II ~ would make a much wider "Head of State" than TRUMP ~ BRIAN

Acrostics are hard thanks for putting one up! I'm glad you kept yourself to a specific pattern ,and followed it precisely. Welcome honorary American to true freedom. After all the Brit's haven't really ever been rebels like us... And as we all know rebellion is the definition of freedom right?

Nice written and remembrance of our 4th of July. I'm with my mates. Not jumping with happiness. Regardless, we had such a beautiful day here in Florida that me and my people were amazed.
I'm from Brazil and Brazilian people used to say that God is Brazilian but it came to my mind yesterday that given a blessed day like we had I'm beginning to think that God is American.
Obligado for your reply MALU ! GOD of course (unlike TRUMP) is impartial and loves all Countries equally ! However when i visit the USA I am surprised just how lavish GOD was with his Natural Beauty ~ even in FLORIDA ! I love being in the USA on Independence Day because even the Amish & Mennonites & Southern Baptists ~ let their hair down ~ well just a little ! Thanks BRIAN
Really good poem. Yes, I love american history, as I should, I suppose. Hopefully we won't have to endure this for long. Yes 9/11 was truly awful, but in the oddest way ever we came together as americans and it's something we'll never forget. Thanks for writing about the 4th when no one else did! Hugs-Christina
THANKS CHRIS ~ You know just how much I love the USA and Americans ! I was surprised none of the many US Citizens on MPS (it is US Site) bothered to write about JULY 4 2017 the 241 st Independence Day ! So on JULY 5 I decided to post my piece ! I have had some nice comments so far. Yes I think 911 (11 September 2001) was a WAKE UP CALL for the USA to widen their thinking and become more INTERNATIONAL ! Obama did his best but TRUMP seems to be Moon Walking Backwards ! His meeting today with PUTIN should be interesting ! Thanks for your support HUGS across the POND ~ BRIAN
