I didn’t shave today
The stubble an expression
Of freedom from
What is expected
I didn’t work today
Went for a long walk
Thinking of people stuck
In small cubicles
I didn’t drive the car today
Pedaled to the store
A small contribution to
Save the environment
I didn’t check my email today
Turned off my cell phone
An insignificant act
Of defiance

may the difference be your guide.
Thanks, it is fun to be different once in a while.
Good write showing what is really meaningful in life.
Thank you, we all end up in a rut and just need to get out every so often.
Love it - I often have a non shave day but not today.
Thanks, and the non shave days do feel good, right?
Don't they just !!
Your words have opened my eyes to how lucky i am in the choices i have. I am self employed and i can and do any or all of these things any time i like. I've taken them for granted, not thought about them at all. Thanks my friend.
You are so right. I am self employed too, and while it is true that I could do these things any time I like, I usually end up working through holidays and weekends. No such thing as 9-5!
I wish we all took more days like the one described in your poem! Love it! It reminded me that we need to separate ourselves from the routines of society once in a while to remind us that we are individuals...
Don't you feel like a slave to your cell-phone sometimes? Do we really have to drop everything to answer a message or email? While I don't want to promote playing hooky, a day free of pressure is great.
Totally agree
A respite from routine helps recharge the soul. Good, well presented poem, Fred!
Thank you Louis, and if you can throw just a little bit of rebellion into that respite, it feels even better.
I hear you, loud and clear!
very clever my friend, I like your style and all up for beards I say.
Thank you Kevin, I tried the beard one or two times but always went back to mustache only.
Lovely to ready about your day. The simple way of life. So sincere. So truthful. Thank you. Best than any news from a major media.
Thank you Malu, and one of a heck of a day it was! Every once in a while you have to get out of the box and do something unexpected. It's not only fun, it helps put the rest of your life into perspective.
I see.
Love this damn-it-all voice of yours, Fred. Was that a middle finger at the end? 🙃
I am too polite to talk with my fingers, but the interpretation is up to the reader! 🙂
PS: I also could have said you have a point!
