Dancing Like an Idiot.

Goldfinch60

It can always be with you,

The power that music has.

The soothing gentle sounds

Can calm the soul and body.

The melancholy of it

Can bring tears to the eyes.

But in those times when stressed,

Music can be there for you.

And never underestimate

How it can heal you.

Playing some wild rock music

On full blast,

Dancing around the house

Like a demented idiot

Brings joy and laughter

Back into your life.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have arranged that when my funeral is over the last piece of music that people will leave the Church to will be 'Rock around the Clock' maybe some of them will "Dance like Idiots" I do hope so. Mind you it will not be for along time yet.

Irresistible title GF. YOu putting thought into preparations? Could do worse than The Comets.

    • Goldfinch60

Thanks Frank, for many years I have said that is the song I want at the end.

Goldfinch you are so right! I like what you said in your comment from author. Love your poem. Music can do all you wrote and much more.
As far as I am concerned, I don't even want a funeral. I just want them (the ones left behind) to have a party and celebrate my life, not my death. Great writing again!

      • Goldfinch60

I will have a funeral but it will be a celebration of my life not my death. It will be filled with much of my favourite music and poems. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

I agree. A soul can be mended by many of things. Music is one of them.

A fine write G/F. I heard 'happy-clappy' style, if in old church buildings, described as 'Dancing underneath architecture'.

              Thanks Orchi, Dance On.

Music don't mend any souls. Well, music does, but not my singing! it makes folks worse! heehee.

I choose Beethoven's "Ode To Joy", (ninth symphony,) to be played at my service. I enjoyed this fine poem, Goldfinch.

              • Goldfinch60

Good choice, apart from Bill Haley, I have chosen Mozart, Johnny Cash, and my favourite singer Katherine Ferrier.

You are giving me an idea. I'm feeling a little lousy about now. Tried breakfast, coffee, now music! Don't leave soon.
